Guidelines for Preparation and Submission of Manuscripts
Each manuscript submitted to this journal must be an original contribution and may not have been published elsewhere. No manuscript will be returned. However, the rights to those manuscripts not selected for publication will revert to the authors upon notice of nonselection.
Manuscripts must be typed or printed, double-spaced on standard paper with 1 inch margins. The journal seeks to publish articles that are thorough and comprehensive in nature, although manuscripts up to 20 pages are most adaptable to the space available. Manuscripts that are significantly longer may be edited for space considerations. Authors are encouraged to contact the editors with questions concerning length and subject appropriateness.
To submit a manuscript to TESE send four copies of each manuscript together with a letter of transmittal providing the name, address, phone number, and email address (if available) of the author to whom communication about the manuscript should be addressed. The manuscript must include a title page listing all authors and their professional affiliations. Authors names should not appear on any other pages of the manuscript. A 100-150 word abstract summarizing the content of the manuscript should follow the title page.
Manuscripts must follow the format specified by the Publication Manual of the American Psychology Association, 2001 (5th edition). Figures and photos accompanying an initial submission should be camera-ready. However, the editors will accept photocopied items provided they can be clearly read or viewed. Upon notification of acceptance for publication, authors who have not yet done so will be asked to submit camera-ready figures and pertinent artwork. Photographs should be glossy prints, preferably black and white, and in a size suitable for publication. The journal does not reduce or crop photographs.
Upon receipt of the manuscript, the corresponding author will be notified within 3 weeks.
Manuscripts are initially appraised by the editors for conformity to the overall editorial guidelines of the journal. Appropriate manuscripts are sent to outside reviewers. Every effort will be made to provide a turnaround of 10-12 weeks, however turnaround times may be longer during key academic breaks. Upon completion of the external review process, a decision will be made by the editors and the corresponding author will then be notified by letter. Authors of manuscripts that have been accepted for publication will then be asked to provide a copy of the paper on disk using either Word or WordPerfect and formatted for PC.
Accepted papers are edited to improve readability and effectiveness of communication. In certain cases, the manuscript may be returned to the author for revisions before the article is put forward for publication. In all cases, the editors reserve the right to make editorial changes that do not materially affect the meaning of the text.
